Lou Underwood Counsellor in Tunbridge Wells
“I see all people as individuals with different needs and ways of communicating. Taking the first step into counselling can be daunting. I will welcome you from first contact with warmth, respect and listen to you without judgement. There are no expectations of you to be anything other than yourself. I will assure your safety and confidentiality and work with you, building a therapeutic relationship. Through this relationship you can explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the present and safely examine and understand past experiences that may be impacting you in your life today.
I work humanistically which means I believe you are the expert on yourself and therefore in control of what you wish to explore and understand. I am an integrative counsellor so my theoretical approach allows us to work according to your needs and goals that you choose.
I have experience working with adults, young children and teenagers with diverse issues. I have worked with clients experiencing, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, infertility, issues surrounding medical problems, loss and bereavement, relationship breakdown and issues developing from childhood experiences.
I currently work as a counsellor at Groombridge and Hartfield Medical Practice seeing clients between the ages of 10 -90 yrs old. I previously worked as a Nurse for 16 years with experience in Intensive Care, A & E and general surgery, I also taught and ran specialist clinics.
I am an insured member of the BACP and work within their ethical guidelines.”
